What's in a Name?

“So – what’s the story behind the name Noble Pig?”

It’s the question that’s asked most often in the tasting room, right up there with “Do you sell barbecue or pork sausage here?”

Well for one thing, with Cathy being a food writer, the Noble Pig Food Blog has a robust collection of recipes involving bacon and ham. So there’s that. And, come on -- pigs are kinda cute. And noble, in their own way. Something about pigs just catches people’s imagination. Folks from Iowa will stop in and say “We don’t even drink wine, but we raise pigs. Let’s have a look at these t-shirts.”

Moreover, Cathy wanted a name that was kind of fun, easy to remember, and not just another “Chateau du LaDeeDah.” There are plenty of those winery names in the world, how about dialing it down just a bit? Just because we take wine making seriously doesn’t mean we can’t lighten up at the same time.

So there you have it. Come in and see if it all doesn’t make perfect sense after you’ve had a taste of our Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. Then maybe head across the street to Barking Frog Winery and find out what their story is.
